Case Study · Employee Gifting
Turning an idea into an experience.
Costco Auto Program had a budget, a date, and a desire to make employees smile at the company BBQ — but no product lineup. RE3 took the idea and shaped it into a cohesive, on-brand gift.

The problem
A broad brief and a blank page.
Costco Auto Program wanted to recognize its employees with a summer gift during the company’s annual BBQ. The brief was intentionally broad.
They had a budget, a general direction, and a desire to create something employees would genuinely enjoy. What they didn’t have was a fully developed concept or product lineup.
Rather than simply filling an order, they needed a creative partner who could take an idea and shape it into something cohesive, thoughtful, and on brand.

The whole program rested on one shift in approach:
Start with an objective, not a product list.
An idea, shaped into something employees would want to keep.
The approach
From a single idea to a coordinated collection.
RE3 partnered with the Costco Auto Program team to explore a wide range of concepts, themes, and product combinations before narrowing the field to the strongest solution. We balanced creativity, budget, quality, and practicality — refining the program collaboratively until every piece felt right: a premium tote bag, a custom beach towel, a branded trucker hat, and an insulated Yeti water bottle.

Rather than relying on stock artwork, RE3 designed vibrant city-inspired towel graphics for the San Diego and Reno offices — giving each location something personal while still belonging to one unified program. Behind the scenes, RE3 managed sourcing, decoration, vendor coordination, production, quality control, and delivery so everything arrived ready for the event.
The result
A gift that reflected the people receiving it.
By transforming a simple idea into a thoughtfully designed collection, RE3 helped Costco Auto Program create a seasonal celebration that felt personal, cohesive, and memorable. More importantly, the project showed the value of having a creative partner involved from the very beginning.
Excited to
take it home.
Instead of starting with products, the team started with an objective — and ended with a program employees were excited to take home.
